Founded in 2023, we’re active in cultivating the next generation of wrestling champions by offering high-quality coaching, a comprehensive training program, and a supportive community environment committed to excellence.
Roosters Wrestling Club, an official USA Wrestling Club & Team, is dedicated to providing top-notch wrestling instruction and fostering a passion for competitive wrestling amongst prep and youth athletes in the greater Metro-King County area and Puget Sound region.

JOINT PRACTICES
Athletes benefit from joint practices held four days a week, where they train alongside peers from various high school and youth programs across the Greater Puget Sound area.
EXPERIENCED COACHING STAFF
Led by experienced high-level coaches who are former or currently active competitors. Our staff & team are dedicated to assisting athletes reach their full potential along with excelling both on and off the mat.

We emphasize competition and provide opportunities for wrestlers to test their skills in local, regional, and national tournaments.
EXCLUSIVE TO PREP & YOUTH ATHLETES
The club is exclusive to prep & youth athletes only and is a competitively oriented amateur program with all members actively competing amongst their individual regional high school leagues and secondary programs. The Roosters Wrestling Club is proud to be an official member of USA Wrestling, the national governing body for the sport of wrestling in the United States. Through our USA Wrestling membership, athletes have access to sanctioned events, training resources, and the opportunity to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
OUR MISSION & ETHICS
Here at Roosters Wrestling Club we strive to have our wrestlers achieve high goals. We understand that through consistency, discipline and hard work, that we can build and create successful young athletes. Developing healthy habits and structured routines will form a strong mindset and condition the body for the future of academic and athletic challenges.
We invite all that are wanting to grow leadership and teamwork skills to participate in our program that has allowed many to progress to collegiate wrestling programs or excellence well beyond our mats. It is our great staff of coaches that has put tremendous passion and motivation to the instruction of techniques and development of attrition. This will carry through in the future to pride and respect beyond the mats.

Jose Hernandez

A seasoned coach and decorated competitor in the world of wrestling and multiple combat sports. With a wrestling journey beginning at the age of 11, Jose boasts 7 years of competitive wrestling experience, including 2 years in Freestyle Wrestling. His accolades include being a 2-time regional MMA champion and a participant in the WIAA 4A State championship, achieving Top 10 finishes twice. As the recipient of the Fire Horse Award and a former team captain at Kentwood High School, Jose embodies leadership and excellence. Combining his passion for coaching, wrestling, and martial arts Jose has dedicated 9 years to coaching, serving as an assistant coach at Kentwood High School, coaching wrestling at ISMMA for 5 years, and leading as the Head Boys Coach at Bellevue High School for 2 years. Additionally, he has lent his expertise as a Freestyle Wrestling Coach for the Rooster Wrestling Club since it foundation in 2023. In recognition of his outstanding coaching prowess, Jose was named the 2024 WIAA Wrestling KingCo Coach of the Year.

Albano Lamaj

Albano Lamaj is former collegiate wrestler out of Washington State University (NCWA) and a current professional fighter for Ivan Salaverry MMA with a strong wrestling base. As a 3-time national qualifier, Albano has honed his skills through years of high level competitive wrestling in college and high school, and continuing to actively develop his skills through MMA and grappling. Coach Albano focuses on building skills, discipline, and confidence in young wrestlers while helping them improve their mindset and technique.

Scott Taylor

Hailing from the wrestling-rich state of Nebraska, Coach Scott brings a wealth of knowledge in both technique and training into the Rooster Wrestling Club. As two time high school state placer and a four year varsity starter for the legendary Dana College Vikings, Coach Scott earned Academic All-American honors all four years and was a 2006 All-American in the same year his team boasted the NAIA National Team Championship. When not coaching, Coach Scott practices Dermatology as a Dermatology Physician Assistant and takes a keen interest in keeping all of his athletes healthy for competition.

Zak Taylor

Coach Zak Taylor competed in Pennsylvania’s PIAA wrestling division for six years before attending Penn State for undergrad. Zak finished his senior year season 33-5, competed in national tournaments in the off-season and now coaches wrestling at ISMMA & Rooster Wrestling Club. Zak’s wrestling style is greatly influenced by coaches who mentored him in southeast Pennsylvania, Naval Academy programs, and Penn State clinics. He focuses on teaching wrestlers to master the basics and improve chain-wrestling ability.
